Our blogging has been a bit quiet of late (Simon’s been doing some video blogs on Facebook though) but now the days are getting longer again we’ll be trying to get back on it more. What better way to do so than with our biggest and most exciting news, we’re full licensed drone operators 🙂 so can offer professional aerial filming in the UK. Gregg went through the process of getting his BNUC-S qualification from EuroUSC and finally applying for and receiving Permission For Aerial Work from the CAA last year, you might have noticed some aerial shots in our last few trailers (we did say our blogging was a bit behind lol) we were having too much fun filming your weddings that we didn’t stop to write this post.
As you can see the shots are stunning! Our drone of choice was the DJI Inspire 1 as it gives us much more flexibility with the dual operator controls, i.e. Gregg can fly the aircraft while Simon independently controls the camera getting unique and dynamic shots. Having purchased it waaaay back in March it was a long process to get to this point, having to sit a theory test, then write a 42 page operations manual and finally take the flight exam just outside Manchester. All that to just get a qualification proving your competency you still have to apply to the CAA to be allowed to use the aircraft for paid work which with the number of operators growing day on day it takes them a while to process all the applications. For us it was a long 41 days waiting for that letter to arrive with our PFAW, we did a little dance when it came in 🙂
If you have any questions about aerial filming or if you have any other projects that you think would benefit from some aerial footage give us a shout, we would be more than happy to answer them or discuss your project.
